Hello

E.J. Kellrose is a pen name — not a character, not an alter ego, not a brand mask.
It’s just me, with boundaries.

I use a pen name for privacy and separation from my work and family life. I want to write freely—dark, strange, funny, sometimes smutty stories—without worrying about who from my offline life might be reading along.

I’ve always written.

I wrote “books” as a kid.
Short stories and fanfiction as a teenager.
There was a MySpace emo poetry phase we don’t need to discuss.

I wrote my first novel almost twenty years ago, and I’ve never really stopped. My brain doesn’t allow it. Ideas keep showing up whether I invite them or not, and I’ve learned to live with that—and occasionally make something useful out of it.

The Happy Place (With Warnings)

Writing is my happy place.
It always has been.

That doesn’t mean it’s gentle. Or tidy. Or particularly well-adjusted.

I’m a mood reader and writer — sweet and romantic one moment, dark and traumatizing the next. I like stories that let humor and horror sit at the same table, preferably while arguing.

Sometimes writing is joy.
Sometimes it’s pressure.
Learning the difference—and staying on the right side of that line—is ongoing work.

Life Outside the Books

Outside of writing, I’m an occupational therapist, a boy mom to two small humans (4 and 6), and I live in Sweden. English isn’t my first language—which I mention partly for transparency, and partly because I think language gets more interesting when it’s slightly imperfect.

Burnout and recovery are part of my story too. Writing mattered before that, and it matters even more now.

If you’re here for:

  • dark stories with humor

  • flawed people making bad choices

  • romance that isn’t always polite

I’m glad you found your way here.

If not—that’s okay too.
